Introduction
Welcome to Helium 10 MCP (Model Context Protocol) — your gateway to AI-powered data access for Amazon, Walmart, and TikTok Shop. MCP lets you connect your Helium 10 account directly to AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex, enabling intelligent, real-time analysis of your seller data without ever leaving your AI assistant.
Instead of logging into Helium 10, navigating to a tool, exporting data, and pasting it into an AI — you simply ask a question in plain English and get an answer backed by live Helium 10 data.
Before MCP: Log into Helium 10 → Navigate to a tool → Export data → Paste into AI → Ask for analysis
With MCP: Connect once → Ask your AI assistant → Receive insights based on live data
What Is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that allows AI tools to connect securely to external data sources. Think of it as a secure bridge between Helium 10's powerful data and your favorite AI assistant.
When you ask your AI a question, here's what happens behind the scenes:
- You ask a question — type your request in Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, or another AI tool
- The AI reads your query — it decides which Helium 10 data tool(s) to call
- Secure data retrieval — your Helium 10 account is authenticated via OAuth 2.0; the AI never sees your credentials
- Data is returned — Helium 10's servers send the requested data securely
- Analysis & response — the AI interprets the data and provides insights in plain language

MCP Input Handling Improvements (September 8, 2026)
MCP input handling is now more forgiving and flexible:
-
Array parameters like
marketplacenow accept a single value — No need to wrap single values in an array; the system automatically handles both single values and arrays. - End dates past today are clamped to today — Instead of returning an error when you specify an end date in the future, the system automatically adjusts it to today's date.
These improvements make MCP more intuitive to use and reduce common error scenarios.

What MCP Can and Cannot Do
✅ What You CAN Do with Helium 10 MCP
- Read all your Helium 10 data (read-only for most tools, selective write access for specific tools)
- Query Amazon and TikTok Shop data
- Query Walmart P&L, inventory, and sales velocity data
- Query at any granularity (account-level, product-level, time-series, breakdowns, trends)
- Combine tools intelligently for comprehensive analysis
- Support all Amazon marketplaces (US, UK, DE, JP, CA, AU, FR, ES, IT, NL, PL, SE, MX), Walmart (US), and TikTok Shop (US)
- Access real-time ad data and query at any level of granularity
- Manage cost tracking (create and edit COGS and indirect costs)
- Manage keyword tracking (add and remove tracked keywords and products)
- Execute campaign actions (pause, resume, create, adjust Amazon ad campaigns)
❌ What You CANNOT Do (Current Release)
- Query multiple accounts simultaneously (each connection = one account; separate connections needed per account)
- Write to Seller Central, Walmart Seller Center, or TikTok Shop directly (most writes must happen in Helium 10 or platform UI)
- Get real-time data (data refreshes periodically, 5–15 second response times)
- Take TikTok Shop actions (send creator invites, manage affiliate signups, modify product/creator data)
API Rate Limits & Optimization
Monthly Rate Limits
- Included Quota: 1,000 API calls/month (included with Diamond+ plan)
- Reset Date: First day of billing cycle
- Cost Per Call: 1 call per tool invocation (pagination counts as additional calls)
- Top-Up Option: $50 for 500 additional API calls per month — Available now. Purchase via Helium 10 subscription management page. Pro-rated allocation — Calls are allocated proportionally based on remaining days in the billing cycle at time of purchase. For example, if you purchase a top-up pack on day 15 of a 30-day billing cycle, you'll receive a proportional allocation of the 500 calls for those remaining 15 days. If you have a yearly or Enterprise subscription, please contact support to assist adding this to your account.
Tips for Optimal Usage
- Batch queries with filters to get only needed data
- Combine multiple tools in one conversation to reuse earlier results
- Simple queries: 1–2 API calls | Comprehensive reports: 5–10 calls
- Avoid redundant lookups — reference earlier results instead of re-querying
- Use
list_my_productsfirst when you don't have an ASIN handy - Use
get_my_wmt_seller_accountsto discover connected Walmart accounts - For TikTok queries, filter by category, time window (7/14/30 days), or performance band
- Batch add/remove keywords to reduce API calls
- Test campaign actions on small sets before scaling

Best Practices
Writing Good Prompts
- Be specific: ❌ "Find keywords" → ✅ "Find keywords that ASIN B0XXXXXXXX is ranking for in the US"
- Always use ASINs for Amazon queries — Use 10-character identifier (e.g., B0XXXXXXXX), not SKU/UPC/EAN/GTIN
- Specify marketplace for Amazon queries — Default is US; say "UK marketplace" or "Amazon Germany" when needed
-
For Walmart queries, specify which seller account — Use
get_my_wmt_seller_accountsfirst if you're unsure - For TikTok, use natural language categories — ✅ "beauty" or "fashion" (system auto-maps to taxonomy)
- Combine tools in one request — Ask Claude to pull multiple tools and synthesize insights
- Ask for interpretation, not just data — Claude can explain meaning, suggest next steps, highlight risks
- Use follow-up questions — Claude retains context; ask "Now show me rank history for the top 5 keywords"
-
Use
list_my_productsfirst — When you don't have an ASIN, find it by product name or brand - Avoid low-cost models — Use Sonnet or Opus; avoid Haiku or Instant
Performance Tips
- Keep queries specific to reduce response time
- Only request needed fields and timeframes
- Space out large queries to avoid hitting monthly limits
- Simple queries: 2–5 seconds | Complex reports: 5–15 seconds
- Split batch keyword analysis larger than 200 keywords
- For Walmart, start with account-level summary before drilling into products
- For TikTok, filter by category, time window, or performance band
- Batch add/remove keywords to reduce calls
- Test campaign actions on small sets before scaling

Helium 10 Ads features require your Amazon Ads profile to be set to "Managed" mode in order to access and manage your Ads data through Helium 10.
- To resolve this error:
- Visit your Helium 10 Ads Settings page
- Locate your Ads profile and change it from "Disable" or "Analytics-only" to "Managed"
- Save your changes
- Retry your Ads action in Helium 10
- Important Billing Note: Profiles in "Managed" mode will incur a 2% fee on all advertising spend. This fee applies even if no automated actions are taken. Please review your budget and usage before enabling Managed mode. For more detailed guidance on Helium 10 Ads modes and settings, visit the Helium 10 Ads Settings article.
