Find Out-of-Stock & Inactive Products with Black Box

The Out of Stock feature in Helium 10’s Black Box (Products tab) helps you uncover product opportunities that many sellers overlook—items that previously performed well but are no longer available.

Instead of focusing solely on active listings, this feature lets you identify “demand-proven, supply-missing” products, giving you a strategic advantage in product research.


What Is the Out-of-Stock Feature?

The Out-of-Stock filter highlights products that are:

  • Currently inactive or out of stock
  • Previously high-performing based on historical sales data

These products may no longer be available due to:

  • Inventory shortages
  • Supplier or manufacturing issues
  • Account suspensions
  • Poor inventory or seasonal management
  • Listing suppression or operational errors

How to Use the Out-of-Stock Filter

  1. Open Black Box
  2. Go to the Products tab
  3. Select the Out of Stock filter
  4. Apply additional filters to refine results
  5. Analyze historical performance data to identify opportunities

Why This Matters

Most product research focuses on what’s currently selling. However, out-of-stock or inactive listings can reveal:

  • Proven demand with reduced competition

Filter and Search Capabilities

You can apply the Out-of-Stock filters within:

Black Box → Products tab

  • Works with most standard Black Box filters, along with the Last Active Age filter.

Note: Some filters (such as pricing and revenue-based metrics) may not be available for inactive listings.


What Qualifies a Product

To ensure quality results, products must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently inactive or out of stock
  • Have more than 30 reviews
  • Show historical sales performance

This ensures results focus on validated, proven products rather than unproven listings.
