Review Insights: Analyze Customer Feedback with Amazon Data

Review Insights is a feature within the Helium 10 Chrome Extension that helps you understand what customers are saying about a product—and how those insights impact its performance.

Powered directly by Amazon’s official Customer Feedback API, Review Insights transforms raw review data into actionable insights you can use to improve your product, listing, and overall strategy.

Where to Find Review Insights

You can access Review Insights directly inside the Helium 10 Chrome Extension while viewing a product on Amazon.

  1. Open a product page on Amazon

  2. Launch the Helium 10 Chrome Extension

  3. Select “Analyze Reviews” in the product summary section at the top

The insights displayed will correspond to the selected child ASIN.

What Review Insights Helps You Answer

Review Insights is designed to help you quickly understand:

  • What customers are talking about most

  • How customer sentiment is changing over time

  • What is driving your product’s rating up or down

Key Features

Topic Insights (What Customers Love & Hate)

Review Insights identifies and organizes:

  • Top positive topics

  • Top negative topics

Each topic includes:

  • Mentions (how often the topic appears in reviews)

  • Up to 3 review snippets (when available)

  • Up to 5 subtopics for deeper context

  • 6-month trend data showing changes over time

Mentions vs. Star Rating Impact

You can analyze topics using two sorting methods:

  • Mentions – Shows the most frequently discussed topics

  • Star Rating Impact – Shows which topics most influence ratings

This helps you distinguish between:

  • What customers talk about most

  • What actually affects the product rating

Star Rating Impact (What to Fix vs. What to Highlight)

Review Insights breaks down how topics influence ratings:

  • Top Rating Up Topics

    • Features that positively impact reviews

    • Ideal for highlighting in listings and marketing

  • Top Rating Down Topics

    • Issues that negatively impact ratings

    • Should be prioritized for product or listing improvements

6-Month Trend Analysis

Each topic includes trend data over the past six months, showing whether it is:

  • Improving

  • Worsening

  • Stable

You can also:

  • Select multiple topics to compare trends

  • Hover over graphs for detailed insights

This helps you:

  • Monitor product improvements

  • Identify emerging issues

  • Validate whether changes are working

Compare Against Category or Parent ASIN

You can benchmark your product against:

  • Category averages

  • Parent ASIN performance

This provides additional context on:

  • How your product compares to competitors

  • Whether certain issues are unique or industry-wide

Variation Switching

If a product has variations, you can:

  • Switch between child ASINs

  • Analyze each variation individually

Export Data

You can export your analysis into a structured CSV file, including:

  • Topic insights

  • Trend data

  • Star rating impact

This is useful for deeper analysis or sharing with your team.

How Review Insights Works

Review Insights uses Amazon’s official API (SP-API) to deliver:

  • Verified, reliable data

  • No scraping

  • Consistent and accurate review analysis

Helium 10 enhances this data with a translation layer that converts raw metrics into clear insights, such as:

  • What customers love

  • What customers dislike

  • What’s improving or getting worse

  • What to fix first
