The AI Control feature in Helium 10 Ads allows sellers to easily toggle between letting the AI manage their Product Goal campaigns or taking full manual control. This simple switch gives users the freedom to turn off AI automation and step in and make campaign decisions themselves.
It's especially useful for sellers who want flexibility, whether making manual adjustments based on a new strategy or taking over campaign management entirely. With AI Control, your Product Goal campaigns are never locked into one mode; you can switch between automated and manual control based on your business needs.
Why Use AI Control?
Helium 10’s AI Advertising is designed to fully automate campaign management for optimal performance. However, we understand that some sellers may prefer more oversight or customization. That’s where the AI Control feature comes in; it puts the power back in your hands.
With AI Control, you can:
- Toggle the switch off to pause AI automation, make manual adjustments to your campaigns, and switch it back on whenever you're ready to let the AI take over again.
- Turn off AI Control entirely and take advantage of other powerful tools within Helium 10 Ads, such as adding custom rules to Product Goal campaigns. This will give you more tailored control over your advertising strategy.
This feature ensures that your Product Goal is not locked into AI management only.
What is the AI Control Feature?
The AI Control feature includes a simple toggle that lets users choose between two clear options:
- AI Control ON: The AI fully manages your campaign, including bid optimization, budget adjustments, keyword promotion or negation, and targeting decisions, automating optimization for best performance.
- AI Control OFF: You take full manual control of the campaigns created by Product Goal. The AI will stop managing or making any changes to the campaigns associated with the Product Goal.
Limitations to Keep in Mind:
- The AI Control feature is only available for Diamond and up. Platinum users can stop AI Control by pausing the Product Goal and editing the campaigns in Seller Central or another tool.
- Switching Product Goal status is not available while AI Control is off.
- If you want the AI system to take over your Product Goal campaign again, make sure not to make the following changes while AI Control is turned off. These actions can cause errors when switching AI back on:
- Do not add or remove advertised products from any of the campaigns.
- Do not change the campaign structure, including adding or archiving ad groups or entire campaigns. Keep the campaign structure and product setup unchanged while AI Control is off to ensure a smooth handoff back to AI.
Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use AI Control
- Navigate to Ads > AI Advertising tab.
- Choose the Product Goal you wish to manage.
- Click the AI Control button to switch either on or off.
- A pop-up message will ask you to confirm or cancel the change.
Sample Use Case:
The AI Control feature is especially useful when you need to make specific changes that the AI would normally manage. For example, you might want to:
- Add, edit, or remove targets and negative keywords
- Make any other manual modifications that align with your advertising strategy
- Or if you choose to manage the campaigns yourself and apply any custom rules like bid adjustments, positive/negative keyword rules, or dayparting
- Note: If you’ve added rules to your campaigns while AI Control is OFF, and later decide to turn AI Control back ON, the campaigns will be removed from the rules. This is because the campaigns will return to full AI management, and the AI system will resume control over all optimization actions.
- Rename the campaigns and or ad groups created by the AI Product Goal.
By turning off AI Control, you can make these changes without interference from the AI. Once you're done, you can turn AI Control back on and let automation resume.
How to Temporarily Take Manual Control Using AI Control
- Go to Ads > AI Advertising in your Helium 10 dashboard.
- Select the Product Goal campaign you want to modify.
- Locate the AI Control column.
- Switch the toggle to OFF to pause AI Control.
- Make your desired changes in the Ad Manager page within H10 Ads. Allowable changes may include:
- Adding or removing targets
- Adding or archiving negative keywords
- Adjusting bids manually
- Adjusting the daily campaign budget
- Modifying campaign or placement settings
- Renaming campaign name or ad group
- Once changes are complete, return to the same toggle and switch AI Control ON to resume AI management.
Important: Do not change campaign structure or products (e.g., adding/removing products or ad groups) while AI Control is OFF if you plan to turn it back ON later.
