Keyword Root Analysis is a powerful new feature within Helium 10’s Listing Builder that provides a detailed, data-driven look at how keywords are used in your product listings—and how they perform. By analyzing keyword roots and competitor usage, this tool helps you optimize your listings and improve visibility and conversions on Amazon.
This feature expands on the existing Keyword Performance Rank and Keyword Performance Score (KPS) already found in Listing Builder, giving you deeper insight and more actionable data.
✅ Available for Diamond and above plans
What Is Keyword Root Analysis?
Keyword Root Analysis allows you to:
-
See how root keywords and keyword phrases appear in your listing.
-
View performance scores and keyword usage in your competitors’ listings.
-
Understand which keywords influence your KPS and adjust accordingly.
Where to Find It
In the Listing Builder tool, you’ll find Keyword Root Analysis split into two main tabs:
Open Keyword Performance
Provides insights into your own listing’s keyword usage and performance.
Open Competitor Comparison
Lets you evaluate how your selected competitors are using the same keywords in their listings.
If your listing does not contain an ASIN, some data, such as the Keyword Rank column, will not be shown, as that data requires a linked ASIN to function properly.
If you're not on a Diamond or higher plan, these tabs will appear locked, and selecting them will prompt you to upgrade your plan to access the feature.
📊 Open Keyword Performance: In-Depth View
When you click “Open Keyword Performance,” a drawer opens while keeping the main Listing Builder workspace fully interactive.
This drawer includes two scrollable, resizable tables:
-
Root Keyword Usage and Performance
-
Keyword Phrase Usage and Performance
You can also:
-
Customize the metrics you want to see.
-
Use the search bar to quickly locate specific keywords.
-
Perform bulk actions like Add to My List, Add to Keyword Tracker, or Delete keywords.
Root Keyword Usage and Performance
This table shows all root keywords detected in your listing, including:
-
Total Usage Count: Number of appearances across title, bullet points, and description.
-
Phrase Frequency: Unique phrases that include the root keyword (e.g., "coffee beans," "coffee mug").
-
Title/Bullet Point/Description Match: Displays match types like Exact, Plural/Singular, Partial, Broad, and more.
-
Search Term Usage: Tracks keyword usage in backend search terms.
-
Total Search Volume: Aggregated volume for keywords using that root.
You can filter to view only the keyword phrases related to a specific root keyword, and deleting a root keyword will also remove associated phrases (restorable at any time).
Keyword Phrase Usage and Performance
This table shows all keyword phrases found in your listing:
-
Includes bulk actions and a restore option for deleted phrases.
-
Lets you customize metrics and perform searches.
-
Features KPS impact indicators, which are color-coded from “Less Impact” to “More Impact.”
Only the top 3 performing keywords count toward your Keyword Performance Score (KPS); the rest are shown in gray.
Open Competitor Comparison
Selecting “Open Competitor Comparison” opens a drawer that compares how your competitors are using the same keywords. You can add up to 20 competitors in Listing Builder's Keyword Performance Rank section.
Adding a Competitor to Listing Builder:
To add a competitor, click on the Keyword Performance Rank tab (within the Listing Analysis section) and then click + Add Competitors.
Select up to 20 competitors from the suggested list or My List, then click Add Selected Competitors at the bottom right.
Key Features:
-
Displays where competitors are using keywords (Title, Bullet Points, Description).
-
Uses color-coded match types:
-
B = Bullet Point
-
T = Title
-
D = Description
-
-
It shows match variations like Exact, Plural/Singular, Partial, and Broad (same field or different fields).
The Keyword Rank column will appear only if your listing includes an ASIN. If not, the keyword rank data will not be visible for your listing, though competitor data will still be shown.
If you see dashes {-} in competitor columns, it may indicate that a match wasn’t detected or the data isn't available for that keyword. You can test keywords manually to confirm or contact support if the issue persists.
You can also:
-
Customize the competitor comparison table.
-
Choose which metrics and competitors to include for a cleaner, more focused view.
