Keeping track of keyword performance is essential, but remembering every optimization you’ve made can be nearly impossible. That’s where notes and tags come in. These features in Helium 10’s Keyword Tracker help you stay organized, track actions, and evaluate the impact of your strategies over time.
Why Use Notes and Tags?
When you're running campaigns, adjusting bids, or making listing changes, it's crucial to monitor how those changes affect your organic and sponsored ranks. Notes and tags allow you to:
-
Track actions taken on specific keywords
-
Group keywords by strategy or campaign
-
Review historical changes and their impact on performance
-
Stay consistent and organized with your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or campaign ad strategy
How to Use Tags
Tags let you group keywords based on specific themes or campaigns (e.g., "Launch Keywords", "Top Performers").
To add a tag:
-
In Keyword Tracker, select the keywords you want to group.
-
Click the “Tag” icon.
-
Choose an existing tag or create a new one (e.g., “Launch Keywords”).
-
Apply the tag to your selected keywords.
Once tagged, you can quickly filter your view to focus on a specific group of keywords using the tag filter at the top of the page.
How to Use Notes
Notes allow you to track specific actions you’ve taken on a keyword, like increasing bids, adjusting prices, or launching a campaign.
To add a note:
-
Click the “Note” icon (plus sign) next to the keyword.
-
Choose or create a note category.
-
Enter the details (e.g., “10/24 – Increased bid by $5” or “Lowered price by $1 to test ranking impact”).
-
Save the note.
These notes appear as markers on your keyword ranking graph, making it easy to correlate actions with results. For example, if you lowered the price on October 20th and saw your product jump from unranked to page one the next day, your note will help confirm that the price drop was likely the reason.
Best Practices
-
Be detailed in your notes.
-
Use tags consistently to group keywords by strategy.
-

Using tags and notes transforms your keyword tracking into a data-rich, actionable history of your optimization efforts, helping you make better, more informed decisions moving forward.
