Keyword Tracker PRO Training Video: How to Get Instant Historical Keyword Ranking

As an Amazon seller, how your product ranks for keywords can play an important role on how successful your business is or becomes.

Keyword Tracker provides you access to instant historical keyword ranking and data that can completely shift how your Amazon listing attracts, converts and consolidates life-time customers.

Let’s learn how to get instant historical keyword ranking data.

For example, if your product or your competitor’s product are collagen peptides and you want to see the historical numerical data for varying keywords on Amazon, all you need to do is find the product page you are interested in. Click on the product you would like to review.

Copy the ASIN, and open Keyword Tracker. Click Add New Product.

This action prompts a pop-up box to open asking you to complete two fields. Paste the ASIN you copied from the product page into the first search field, along with any keywords or key phrases you want to track (one per line) in the second search field.

The ASIN you enter will aid the software to identify the seed product for the search. Similarly, you will receive keyword tracking and historical data for the keywords you input from that time going forward.

Note that if your product is a Parent ASIN (a product that has multiple variations in size, color, or another factor), you may be asked if you want to track the additional child variations. If you would like to track the variants, click yes. If you do not wish to track the variants, click no.

Once you have entered the required information, click START TRACKING.

Refresh your page to check if the product has been successfully added. Keyword data should be available to you within the hour, if not within a couple of moments.

At this point, you can see how the product’s positioning for a particular keyword has progressed over the past 30 Days, 90 Days, One Year, or All Time, by clicking on the graph icon on the right-hand side of your screen for any keyword.

To see how long your searched ASIN has been ranking on a certain page at a certain position for a certain keyword, use the time frame links located at the top of the graph window to see all associated historical data.

For example, if the keywords “collagen peptides,” “collagen powder,” “colageno,” and “hair skin and nails,” are entered when you add the product in 2020, you can view the keyword history available dating back to 2019, regardless of  whether one of the keywords is in a foreign language or a low ranking keyword.

“Colageno” is Spanish for collagen. However, as you can see from the screenshot below, the Keyword Tracker software is still able to pick up keyword history for it.

Similarly, although “hair skin and nails” is a lower ranking keyword for the collagen peptide product with position rankings fluctuating between 173 and 244, there is still historical data available dating back to January 2019.

Keyword Tracker can also be used in conjunction with Cerebro to discover new keywords/key phrases for which you did not know your product was already previously ranking.

Sometimes, your product can rank for words that you did not purposely set out to rank for, or you will find your product is ranking for words you are not tracking in Keyword Tracker. When this situation occurs, use Helium 10’s software tool, Cerebro, to identify which keywords you are unintentionally ranking for.

Perhaps the product you are selling is a coffin shelf. From the Helium 10 dashboard, go to Keyword Research and click on Cerebro.

Type in the ASIN of the product you are interested in, click Get Keywords, and scroll the filtered keywords that are listed until you find a keyword you are not actively attempting to rank for or tracking in Keyword Tracker.

For the sake of this example, let’s say “coffin shaped shelf” is neither a word you are aiming to rank for nor are you tracking it in Keyword Tracker. However, Cerebro says this item was ranking page one, position one for it last week.

To see how long your product has been on page one, position one, you simply have to add the keyword to your Keyword Tracker. Once it is added, you can check the history of that Keyword to know exactly when your product got to page one, position one, or when the product fell off.

The Helium 10 data includes keyword rankings dated as far back as 2018.

Outside of using Keyword Tracker with Cerebro to identify keywords and phrases you did not previously recognize your product is ranking for, the software is also great for checking the history of keywords on your own listings or your competitor’s listings.

Being aware of keyword history will serve you. Looking at historical data for a product that is already established, especially when doing product research, can assist you in discerning what the product’s sales are like and how long it took the product to get to where it is now. With our tool in your arsenal, discovering all the keywords your competitors have been ranking on Page One can become a breeze. Use Keyword Tracker if you wish to take your business to the next level and enjoy saving time, money and lots of energy!
