Amazon SEO is essential to seller success, but how do you identify the best keywords to place your product at the top of customers' search results on Amazon? Amazon allows sellers to load keywords into their titles, their product bullet points and descriptions, and into their backend search databases. Ultimately, successful sellers load their product listings with as many relevant keywords as possible to increase their visibility in customer searches.
So, how do you identify the best product keywords leading to the best sales conversions? Magnet offers a wide variety of filters to search the database of actionable Amazon-related keywords. Let's check out the different ways to fine-tune your research for keywords using Magnet.
1. First, log into Helium 10 and open Magnet, either by clicking on the Magnet icon in the left side menu or in the central tools area. The Magnet icon is the image of two attracted magnets in red and blue.
2. To begin a search, type your keyword(s) in the field where it says "Enter 1 keyword." You can search one or more words or phrases, up to 200, depending on your goals. Be sure to separate each word or phrase with commas. The keyword can simply be a generic form of your product name.
3. Magnet can search keywords in eight different international Amazon markets, so select the correct country you are researching. The default setting is amazon.com (United States). Other countries include Canada, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Great Britain and India. If you're selling your product(s) in more than one country, you'll want to run separate searches. Choose the correct market for this search. Then, click on the Get Keywords button.
4. Once you have selected your country, typed in your keyword(s), and hit the Get Keywords button, Magnet will immediately process the initial search results.
5. To narrow the search, consider adding an additional keyword or two, and then clicking on the Get Keywords button again. Adding just one more descriptor can refine the results significantly.
6. At the top, just under the search terms, four boxes appear with the primary data. The first box reports out 1) the total search volume, 2) the estimated CPR 8-Day Giveaways required, 3) the Match types (Organic, Smart Complete or Amazon Recommended) and 4) the Magnet IQ score.
7. The second box reports out: 1) the total number of keywords associated with your original keywords; 2) the number of Smart Complete--or exact--matches; 3) the number of organic matches, or the actual search terms customers have typed in to find products; and 4) the Amazon Recommended associated keywords. Amazon creates and maintains its own database of words that it specifically associates for products within its search engine. Helium 10 finds and singles out these words for you.
8. The third box pulls out the top three sellers for the keyword(s) you're researching and displays them for easy import to Cerebro.
9. The fourth box separates out all the individual words that appear in the entire list and ranks them by frequency. You can access all the words in the box by using the slider on the right-hand side.
10. Under the boxes, Magnet now presents a series of filters that you can use to manipulate and control the outcome of your results. On the left side, Magnet lets you set the parameters based on the Magnet IQ Score. The Magnet IQ Score identifies products associated with words frequently searched by customers, but for which there are fewer products available. Because Amazon's offered inventory has grown so huge, it's difficult to locate products earning scores over a few hundred. The higher the score, the more opportunity, though.
11. The second filter allows you to modify for search volume. The preliminary search volume numbers are posted in the first box above. You may want to narrow the search results.
12. The third filter lets you increase the word count in your search. The default setting is to include two (2) words, but if you want to search for longer keyword strings, or what are known as long tail keywords, you can increase the minimum word count.
13. The fourth filter allows you to manipulate your research to uncover the highest selling products using this keyword(s) in their titles and/or listings.
14. The final two filters on the initial results page can limit the types of matches, or search only for Amazon Choice tagged products.
15. Magnet offers a final set of criteria that can be altered on its primary Magnet dashboard. Under Advanced Filters, you can add or eliminate specific words from your search.
16. Now, you're ready to click on the Apply button and run your refined research.
17. As you read through the results, you can continue to refine and narrow your results. You can delete an item on the list by simply clicking the X next to the item keywords. The word(s) are removed from the results, and stored under the Deleted Word file, so that if you change your mind and want to add them back into the results, you do so at any time. Click Apply whenever you make changes to update the list.
18. Another option for narrowing your research results is simply to add words from the list that you want to remove. Click on the Common Words button and type the words you want removed into the window that pops up. Click on Apply.
19. When you've finished creating a complete list, you have several options. First, Helium 10's Magnet lets you easily export the keywords into Frankenstein for further refinement, or to your computer as a CSV or Excel file. You can also copy it to the Clipboard and paste to another document.
20. Finally, Magnet also stores your searches so that you can return later and continue working on them within the tool.
