Child ASIN Variation Sales Performance Indicator in Xray

The new Child ASIN Variation Sales Performance Indicator, a highly requested feature in Xray, brings users a leading-edge solution for assessing sales performance across product variations on Amazon. This tool helps users determine which variation is driving the most sales for a given listing, filling a critical gap in product performance insights. Available for users on Platinum and above plans, this feature offers advanced metrics on variation-specific sales, helping you make more informed inventory and marketing decisions.

Why We Built the Child ASIN Variation Sales Performance Indicator

Influencers and sellers alike have faced challenges in identifying which ASIN variation of a product is the main revenue driver, as Xray’s standard estimates currently provide a single sales number across all variations. This enhancement addresses that problem directly by giving users an estimation of sales by individual variation, providing clarity into each variation’s contribution to total revenue.

Key Features and Benefits

With the Child ASIN Variation Sales Performance Indicator, you’ll gain:

  • Variation Sales Strength
    • This column shows an estimated comparison of sales performance across all variations in a product family, ranked from highest sales to lowest.
    • How It Works: Sales strength values are calculated based on recent data from Amazon's “Bought in the Last Month” metric and adjusted for variation-specific pricing, providing a more accurate picture of sales distribution among variations.
  • Recent Purchases
    • This column displays the number of customers who purchased in the last 30 days, directly sourced from Amazon’s “Bought in the Last Month” data.
    • Note: The number reflects the count of unique customers, not unit sales or returns, providing a general sense of demand. If fewer than 50 customers purchased a variation, this number is shown as "N/A," following Amazon’s data availability rules.

These insights empower users with information to better understand which variations may need restocking or additional marketing attention and optimize listing performance.

How to Access Variation Sales Data

To improve the experience of analyzing variation-specific data, these columns are initially hidden and will appear in a nesting table that you can expand per product:

  • View One Product at a Time: To manage backend resources and ensure data accuracy, you can expand variations one listing at a time. This approach reduces the chance of missing data or Amazon rate limits.
  • Pagination for Multiple Variations: For listings with numerous variations, only the first ten will appear in the table initially. Additional variations can be accessed via pagination controls.
  • Customizable Columns: Both Variation Sales Strength and Recent Purchases can be added or removed just like other columns in Xray. The variation table within a listing remains accessible even if the columns are hidden.

Table Views Depend on Marketplace

This view is available for the following marketplaces: US, UK, DE, FR, ES, IT, CA, MX

All other marketplaces will have this table view:

  • Visualization: Each variation is assigned a unique color solely for easy visual separation, without any specific data significance.

Exporting Variation Data

For users who want to export variation-specific insights:

  • New Toggle for Export: A new option allows you to include data from all variations within a listing in the exported file. This exported file will clearly distinguish between the main ASIN and individual variations, formatted as “Product #5” with its variations labeled 5.1, 5.2, etc., for easy reference.
